A report from Bloomberg today says that Apple has taken its Russian online store offline due to “extreme” fluctuations in the Ruble.
The Apple store page in Russia shows the “we’ll be back” message at time of writing. Apple said that the “online store in Russia is currently unavailable while we review pricing.”
Russia’s currency has been fluctuating wildly in the past few days, losing as much as 19 percent today alone as the country increases its interest rate to 17 percent from 10.5 in an attempt to stop the crisis.
Apple routinely reviews currencies to ensure the pricing is correct as they fluctuate worldwide. It isn’t clear if the store will be back in the short term or if Apple will wait to see if the Ruble settles.
