Apple appoints Xerox CFO Luca Maestri as new corporate controller

In a bid to strengthen its financial division, Apple has lured away Xerox executive vice president and CFO Luca Maestri, appointing him as its new corporate controller.

Announcing Maestri’s departure in a press release, Xerox said that the executive would step down from his position on February 28, 2013, helping the company “manage the financial leadership transition.”

Maestri will succeed former controller Betsy Rafael and will work under Apple’s senior vice president and Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer, who currently oversees the “controller, treasury, investor relations, tax, information systems, internal audit and facilities functions,” and was once Apple’s corporate controller back in the nineties.

As Apple’s new corporate controller, Maestri will be tasked with establishing financial policies, tracking income and expenses and will help Apple make investment decisions.

Maestri joined Xerox in February 2011 and was formerly the CFO of Nokia Siemens Networks. Before that, he held a number of finance positions with General Motors, where he worked for over 20 years.
