Apple gives developers the final beta version of OS X Mountain Lion before its official release

Apple has today released the Gold Master version of OS X Mountain Lion to developers, reports Macrumors. This version of Mountain Lion is not a public release, but it is likely the final beta version before the operating system update becomes available to consumers later this month.

This final version of the beta allows developers to fine-tune their apps to work with the variety of new features of Mountain Lion. This includes Facebook integration, for which Apple also released a new test kit today. Developer tools associated with OS X and iOS, including Xcode, also received an update today.

Apple announced at its World Wide Developer’s Conference that Mountain Lion would run $19.99 for either upgraders or new users. Like Lion, it will be delivered exclusively via the Mac App Store and should arrive in July.
