Apple is facing a second lawsuit involving its use of consumer location data, this one accusing the company of “intentionally intercepting personally identify information,” according to The Loop.
Apple isn’t the only company named as a defendant: The Weather Channel and Pandora Media are also listed, as are “Does 1-10” — as yet unnamed companies — in the lawsuit brought by Lymaris M. Rivera Diaz.
Diaz’s filings accuse Apple of capturing the iPhone’s Unique Device ID and location data and transmitting these to advertisers. While the Unique Device ID doesn’t explicitly reveal the identity of the owner, it does narrow it down to one device.
Based on these contentions, Apple is charged with fraud, abuse and unfair trade practice and are being asked by Diaz to pay damages.
