Amazon.com launches SAME DAY delivery.

AmazonLogoToday Amazon.com makes impressive strides as an online retailer by announcing same delivery.

The new “Local Express Delivery Option” will allow certain cities (item permitted) to receive a delivery on the same day if the product is ordered between 10am and 1pm.

Amazon said “Local Express Delivery” will offer customers same-day delivery initially only New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Seattle and Washington, D.C. The service will be extended to Chicago, Indianapolis and Phoenix in the coming months.

Amazon Prime members, who pay $79 a year for free, next-day shipping, will pay an extra $6 per item while non-Prime members should expect to pay approximately $15.

The service is supposedly an effort to win last-minute holiday sales.

Update: We’ve been told this has been available for some time in London, UK. Can anyone confirm?
