Nine Turkish girls “rescued” from fake reality TV show turned soft porn Internet game

turkishbigbrother_450x300Nine girls have been rescued by Turkish police after being held in an Istanbul villa where they were allegedly held captive after applying for a reality show. Instead, they were allegedly forced into wearing bikinis and ordered to fight for an internet show called Weareathome TV (bizevdeyiz.tv) where users could vote for their favourite girl and pay to see more.

The women’s parents called the police after they didn’t hear anything from them. The military police went to investigate and heard the women screaming from inside, a police spokesman said. The girls had supposedly been held against their will for two months in a villa in Riva, on the outskirts of Istanbul. A man has now been arrested after footage of the women was allegedly sold on the internet.

A lawyer for the show has denied accusations that naked pictures were sold to a website and that the girls were tricked and threatened by the production company. He said the girls had known that this was a competition designed by the internet service and were taken to the house under the terms of the contract that they willingly signed, he added.

The homepage on the site carries a statement denying the news reports. It still also carries a link to the competition.

This is not the first time scandal has rocked the booming reality TV industry in Turkey.

In 2005, a male contestant from the hit show “Would You Be My Bride?” died of an apparent drug overdose after the season wrapped up production. On that show, mothers helped their sons choose a bride. The mother of the young man who killed himself, has since gone on to host another reality match-making TV.
