The ‘massacre of ads’ line didn’t work for me – perhaps Google has wised up to this.

But Firefix’s ‘webmail ad blocker’ worked a treat. :)

I tried mentioning death and ads for retirment and nursing homes came up, along senior citizen-related ads.

well.. actually you can just add those lines to a new Greasemonkey script and activate it.. works to.. and is more flexible!.. just tried it :-)

hehe.. funny.. and works ;-)

But the more effektive solution is to use Firefox and install ChromeEditPlus and edit usercontent.css

add at the bottom of the file:

/*
* Remove gmail text ads
*/
.oM{display: none !important;}
.u7{display: none !important;}

press save and restart.

gone!

Remember that this only fixes the text ads.. and if they change the css for gmail, you might have to edit the class names again.. but this has been working for me the last 6 months :-)

Ha ha ha, tank you guys, lot of fun!

However I will keep the ads:
- Because I love Google so much, that if they live on those ads, that are unobtrusive, it’s fine for me;
- And because every now and then I look at the ads, just to find useful services, competitors, and be informed on news concerning my interests.
