The growth of photovoltaics, showing the history of installed photovoltaics. Photovoltaics has been growing at an average of 64.8%/year since 2007, and increased by 74.1% in 2011. Cumulative installations at the end of 2012 are expected to reach from 89.9 to 109.9 GW, and from 207.9 to 342.8 GW by the end of 2016. By the end of 2011, a total of 67.4 GW had been installed, sufficient to generate 85 TWh/year. Official agencies keep underestimating the growth rate of renewables.
