This year’s Disrupt was host to the usual technology clan- developers and eager startup entrepreneurs filled the halls , but there was a new breed of tech enthusiasts in town; celebrities. Actor Ashton Kutcher and singers Trey Songz and Chamillionaire were all in attendance, networking, listening intently to the panels, speeches and being interviewed themselves.

Why are celebrities suddenly taking an interest in Silicon Valley? ‘Why not,’ was Chamillionaire’s answer. But I get the gist that celebrities are realizing technology platforms like Twitter and Facebook are providing them with new ways to connect with fans and rather than just be in these platforms they’d rather invest or be ‘in the know’ before anyone else.
