Citizen journalism on iPhone just got more professional with the iRig. [Macworld video]

Citizen journalism on iPhone just got more professional with the iRig. [Macworld video]

This video was bought to you by SitePen and Viadeo.

I am always reporting on-the-go with my Kodak Playtouch. Why I choose the Playtouch over other handheld recording devices is I can plugin a handheld mic into the mini-jack port to give me directional sound, cutting out the background noise.

But it annoys me that I am also carrying around my iPhone- a device with the same video recording capabilities as the Playtouch, but no ability to plug in a professional microphone.

Well today, dear friends, that has changed with the discovery at Macworld 2011 of the iRig. The first handheld, quality condenser microphone for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad designed for all mobile sound needs.

What’s great is now I can also do livestream video reports via my iPhone’s 3G/wifi capabilities from conferences and events. As more news is gathered from citizens, like what we are seeing happening in Egypt right now, devices like the iRig will help citizen reporting become more professional.
