Amazon is looking to hire more than 70,000 full-time workers during the holiday season this year in the US, an increase of 40 percent from last year, as it sees a rise in demand from its customers.
In an announcement, Amazon says it also expects to convert thousands of these seasonal employees into regular, full-time roles after the holidays, as it did last year. Dave Clark, Amazon’s vice president of worldwide operations and customer service, says that so far this year, the company has converted more than 7,000 temporary workers in the US to regular roles.
Amazon says that its holiday-season employees on average earn 94 percent of the starting wages received by regular employees at its fulfillment centers and are eligible for health care benefits.
