University Class Teaches Starcraft?

University Class Teaches Starcraft?

The new year is coming for university students, bringing much gloom and fear of tests. What if you could play Starcraft, and get an A? Would you do it?

The University of Florida is offering a class in, well, “21st Century Skills in Starcraft.” Yes my friends, if you go to the University of Florida you can game for an A, and we are not talking about post-quarter haggling with the professor.

Now, if you want to get all gosu and kick ass in the game, this is not for you. As TechCrunch points out, this is not a training class. The course description says this:

It does not teach about Starcraft, but rather aims to utilize the game and the complex situations that arise within it to present and develop the important skills professionals will undoubtedly need in the 21st Century workplace.
This course includes required weekly game play, viewing and analysis of recorded matches, written assignments which emphasize analysis and synthesis of real/game-world concepts, and collaboration with other students.

Yeah, whatever. It’s Starcraft, for a grade. I wonder if I can get some leave from TNW to head over to Florida for some gaming, I mean, studying. Face it, you wish that this was offered when you were in school!

Flame in the comments over how ridiculous this is.
