Amazon looks to beef up London development hub with 100 new positions, including engineers and designers

Back in July, we reported that Amazon was setting up a new design and development hub in London, focusing on building services for TVs, game consoles and mobile devices.

The Digital Media Development Centre was opened in Glasshouse Yard, in the Barbican, where it houses hundreds of employees that already work for Amazon-owned LoveFilm and PushButton. The base serves as a R&D hub of sorts, focusing on projects that may land on Amazon services globally.

And now it seems Amazon is looking to ramp up its efforts by creating another one hundred jobs, C21Media reports, adding to the one hundred jobs that have already been created since the launch.

Amazon acquired video-on-demand service LoveFilm in January 2011, adding further armory to its media arsenal when it snapped up TV app company PushButton in July that year. The new roles available include software development engineers, UI experts and graphic designers.

“We have always known that there is a wealth of tech talent here in London and we continue to look for the most creative minds in the UK to work on the next generation of TV and film services for Amazon customers all over the world,” explained Paula Byrne, Managing Director of the Digital Media Development Centre, to C21Media.
