UK broadcaster Channel 4 has announced that it is to broadcast one of William Shakespeare’s most famous plays via Twitter.
The production, entitled ‘Such Sweet Sorrow’ forms part of the channel’s arts line-up from spring 2010, reports The Telegraph.
The project, developed in collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Mudlark production house, is scheduled to go live on 12th April, although details remain sketchy around exactly how the play is to be tweeted.
This project is the latest in a line of initiatives in which television broadcasters are looking to incorporate social networking tools into their programme delivery plans. The US network, Fox experimented with Twitter in 2009 during reruns of sci-fi series Fringe.
In the UK, the BBC also ran a short-lived experiment using Twitter during the first run of its apocalyptic drama series Survivors, as reported by The Next Web.
