Blade Runner 2049’s official trailer is just as mysterious as it needs to be

If you’ve been hankering for another taste of Blade Runner like we have since we heard about the film project last October, you’re in luck: the official trailer for the sequel to the original masterpiece is out now.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve (of Arrival and Sicario fame), Blade Runner 2049 takes us to a dystopian Los Angeles that will seem familiar to fans of the original.

Without giving away too much, the trailer gives us enough glimpses of the stage that Ridley Scott first set 35 years ago to whet our appetites: a massive Atari logo looming over a Spinner, an aged Rick Deckard (played by Harrison Ford) and a new android hunter, K (Ryan Gosling), who’s looking for answers to some difficult questions. If the film is half as good as this trailer looks, we’re in for a real treat – fans and first-timers alike.

Blade Runner 2049 arrives in theaters October 6.
