Remembering hundreds of Pantone colors is no easy task, so one design studio wants to help… with emoji.
“This event was off the charts”
Gary Vaynerchuk was so impressed with TNW Conference 2016 he paused mid-talk to applaud us.
A design project by Burro Studio places emoji over Pantone color strips as a visual aid to remember colors. The icons may not completely match the Pantone backdrop, but they do at least complement the color.
Each strip also gets a fanciful name. ‘Nighiri Red’ and ‘Cheese Burger ‘are two of my favorites, though maybe I’m just hungry.
There are perhaps too many colors to usefully describe with standard emoji, but it’s an interesting take on the traditional numbers and letters system. It likely just came up as a fun idea for Burro Studio’s team, but there’s some degree of a usefulness to it; emoji could help visualize a color more easily than a name or code.
Besides, if people are okay with ‘Minion Yellow‘ being an actual thing, we can’t really judge.
