Thanksgiving is one of the busiest times of the year in the United States. Perhaps even more so than Christmas, everyone is looking to drive or fly home in order to be reunited with their family and loved ones.
So it should come as no surprise that American airports get pretty busy on Black Friday. Filmmaker and photographer Cy Kuckenbaker decided to go down to San Diego International Airport this year and shoot a 30 second time lapse video, featuring every plane that landed there over a five hour period. Needless to say it’s a lot of planes, and you can see them all compressed together in the final video below:
The video itself is a composite, using a process called chroma key, or green screen, to make the sky absolutely transparent. After layering the planes on top of one another, the final clip was used on top of a separate piece of footage which featured the clouds. We think it’s slick and absolute genius.
