At Turntable.fm, SMS texts, not keys, open doors.

Turntable.fm’s co-founder Billy Chasen has his business on lock, literally,” writes Internet Svengali Greg Battle. Chasen won an award from Twilio for using its API in his inventive SMS controlled door lock, which uses an embedded web server connected to a servo motor connected to the door lock.

To use: Simply send a text message from a white-listed phone number and voila, it opens, which is a cheaper and much savvier than handing out keys. Watch the video here:
