HTC has announced the Desire 510 today, a mid-range device that boasts 4G support, as the company boosts its array of affordable handsets to appeal to a wider audience.
The Desire 510 is a 4.7-inch Android smartphone running Qualcomm’s quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 processor. It comes with 8GB of on-board memory and an expandable microSD card slot, and is powered by 1GB of RAM and a 2,100 mAh battery. Given its affordable positioning, the Desire 510 only has a five-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera. Similar to its other flagship phones though, the Desire 510 comes equipped with HTC BlinkFeed and runs Android 4.4 with HTC Sense, its own Android skin.
HTC says the Desire 510 will be available in “selected regions in Europe and Asia as well as through select carriers in the US” — but there’s no word on the exact price yet.

HTC is making a big play for emerging markets this year as it seeks to reverse its losses, and part of its strategy includes launching devices with a variety of price points to capture more potential customers. The Desire 510 is but one of these entry-level phones that it’s banking on to change its fortunes.
