YouTube Gaming’s APIs now support more real-time chat and monetization controls

YouTube Gaming’s APIs now support more real-time chat and monetization controls

When YouTube Gaming launched in August, the development team said that it would be building APIs to help creators better manage live chats. Today, YouTube announced new API supports that should aide in chat engagements and sponsorships.

Now, creators can incorporate these tools to learn when a user makes a one-time voluntary payment to support the channel. Creators can also access a list of users who are sponsoring their work by making recurring payments, in case they want to give the sponsors extra benefits.

On the live chat end, the new API support now allows you to read comments as they are being published in real time, and lets you respond as the authenticated channel. As with the original functionality at launch, users can choose to give temporary time outs or ban abusive commenters.

If these updates aren’t helpful enough, YouTube also boasted some new integrations for third party tools to help monitor comments, such as Nightbot and XSplit Broadcaster.
