Twitter and Wikipedia are co-hosting a language hackathon on November 1

Twitter and Wikipedia are well known global entities on the Web, and as such the two brands have announced a co-organized hackathon with a strict focus on localization and internationalization.

The event is taking place at Twitter’s San Francisco HQ on November 1, and will delve into:

  • Localization infrastructure
  • Community driven translation
  • UI/UX
  • Complex language and scripts
  • Input methods
  • Web fonts

Twitter also says that a series of quick-fire talks and hands-on sessions are taking place, while the best hacks will receive prizes.

Both Wikipedia and Twitter are avid users of crowdsourced translations, so it’s not surprising to see both brands turn to the developer community for input on the technical side either.
