    Mashery has created a new way to pay for purchases made across devices with the announcement of its Distributed Commerce Solution today.

    In announcing its distributed commerce solution today, Mashery, the leading API management and strategy service has effectively released the “buy button” out into the wild.

    [W]e give merchants the freedom to deploy fully customizable purchase experiences wherever, whenever, and on whatever devices their customers want to transact,” said Oren Michels, CEO and co-founder of Mashery.

    With Mashery Distributed Commerce app makers can securely offer purchases and financail transactions through any app, and on any device, including those made by third parties. Distributed Commerce can also eliminate the friction of affiliate transactions by keeping users from having to leave the app they’re using in order to complete a purchase. Secure transfer of B2B financial transactions across and other purchase data can now be shared with strategic partners via the API.

    During a keynote address at the CTIA Wireless conference, Padmashree Warrior of Cisco estimated that there will be one trillion connected devices by 2013, which gives a sense of the scale Mashery’s Distributed Commerce service can reach.

    Currently Mashery provides strategic expertise to more than 150 top brands, including The New York Times, Best Buy and Netflix, and works with a network of 115,000 developers and distribution partners.
