Deliveroo expands its food delivery service to France and Germany

Deliveroo expands its food delivery service to France and Germany

Deliveroo, a platform that delivers food from restaurants that don’t traditionally offer take-out, has announced today that it is expanding internationally for the first time, into Paris and Berlin.

Both, unsurprisingly, are known for being ‘foodie’ cities, so it makes sense in terms of expansion destinations, and the news follow the company’s launch in Dublin earlier this week.

From a (hungry) customer perspective, the platform offers a wider range of food options than simply being restricted to ‘traditional’ take-away restaurants. From the business’s perspective, it drives higher revenues and allows them to offer delivery without having to invest in drivers or vehicles. In the UK, the company has around 500 drivers working in eight cities to deliver meals from more than 1,500 restaurants.

“This international expansion marks the first step in our plan to become the best food delivery company in the world. We’ve quickly established an enthusiastic base of repeat customers in our eight cities of operation in the UK and we intend to do the same in our new countries of operation,” William Shu, co-founder and CEO of Deliveroo, said.
