ARRRRR: The European Pirate Summit 2012 returns to Cologne in September

You may want to consider a trip to Cologne (Germany) next September 10-11, because the second edition of the European Pirate Summit is almost upon us.

The European Pirate Summit (EPS) was started in 2011 with the aim to become a European startup event “like none other”. We’ll be there to check if they’ve succeeded this year.

This year’s edition, under the motto “ARRR on Europe”, the EPS is bringing together roughly 500 people who have – and I quote – “demonstrated their Pirate spirit”.

On the speaker list you’ll find fine folks like Index Ventures’ Saul Klein, Wrapp’s Andreas Ehn, angel investor extraordinaire Klaus Hommels and Xing founder Lars Hinrichs, as well as yours truly, among others.

The <3 of EU tech

The latest rumblings from the EU tech scene, a story from our wise ol' founder Boris, and some questionable AI art. It's free, every week, in your inbox. Sign up now!

What to expect? Talks, discussions, workshops and startup pitches, and also, apparently, a bunch of 11-14 year olds showcasing their latest iOS apps.

If you’d like to attend the event, you need to apply so the organizers can verify whether you’re really a pirate. However, if you fill in the code “TheNextWebEPS12” in the “Your message” field when you apply for the event, you shall receive a 20 percent discount! You’re welcome.

Also, if you’re a European startup looking to pitch at the event, you can sign up for free until August 15th right here.
