Nurugo is the world’s-smallest smartphone microscope

Nurugo is the world’s-smallest smartphone microscope

Nurugo, a CES newcomer, has a handful of really cool smartphone accessories. One of these is the Nurugo ‘Micro,’ a clip-on smartphone accessory that takes macro photography to a whole new level.

What is it?

Nurugo’s ‘Micro’ clips to the back of any smartphone and provides extraordinary magnification abilities to your existing camera. The Micro covers your existing camera, clipping on and off as you need it, and provides magnification capabilities up to 400x.

At that zoom level, you can see individual fibers in fabric and hair, as well as some supremely tiny living things like Hydra.

Why does it matter?

Smartphone accessories are an industry that’s always ripe for innovation. We get a product or two a year that really makes us say ‘wow’ in the smartphone accessory market, and I believe Micro, from Nurugo, is definitely one of the two.

When is it coming?

Retail pricing and availability isn’t yet public, but the company plans to hit Kickstarter later this month so it’s possible you could snag early access to one there.
