OnePlus 2 invites fetched $70,000 (for charity)

OnePlus, the smartphone manufacturer behind the ever-exclusive OnePlus 1 and OnePlus 2, has raised $70,000 for UNICEF by auctioning off invites for its new OnePlus 2 smartphone.

OnePlus 2 Global Invites

Last week, OnePlus launched an eBay store where customers could bid to win the opportunity to purchase the new OnePlus 2. This was an alternative to its current system, where you need to be invited by a current owner, or by participating in multiple online contests by the company.

The eBay bidding gave a chance for anyone who really wanted a device to obtain one for a good cause. “This way, those who are willing to buy invites can bid on one officially from OnePlus instead of someone looking to make a profit,” OnePlus stated.
