HTC has confirmed reports that it was working on a new Android smartphone targeted at a female audience by launching the new HTC Rhyme, a 3.7-inch smartphone that will launch in the U.S with Verizon by the end of the month.
Verizon is scheduled to release the Rhyme on September 29, with pre-orders said to begin on September 22. European and Asian markets are expected to launch the device in October.
The HTC Rhyme will be powered by a 1GHz single-core processor, Google’s Android Gingerbread firmware, shipping with Sense UI 3.5, a 3.7 inch WVGA display, HTC Watch, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, and a 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash. As noted by Unwired View, the Rhyme will launch with a number of exclusive accessories, including a docking station, a “Charm Cable” that can be “connected to the phone and has a protruding small cube that glows” which notifies of incoming calls or messages.

Other accessories include a sporting armband and a Bluetooth handset, all with matching plum colours to mimic the colour of the handset itself. Unwired View does report that the HTC Rhyme is likely to come in silver, with the plum model looking to be a Verizon exclusive in the U.S.
The HTC Rhyme will cost $199.99 when it becomes available on September 22.
