Nokia confirms its first Windows Phone devices will run Mango

Nokia has confirmed that its initial launch of Windows Phone devices will definitely run Microsoft’s new Mango update.

Nokia’s wording on its Conversations blog reads as follows:

Today Microsoft has announced the key new ingredients of the latest ‘Mango’ release of the Windows Phone operating system. This is the software that will be used on the first Nokia with Windows Phone devices, and so should be of keen interest to Nokia-watchers everywhere. Read on for all the details.

Nokia intends to make use of the improved social network integration, helping those with multiple inboxes consolidate email accounts with the Linked Inbox feature and the ability to coverse via Facebook, SMS and Windows Live Messenger using the new threads feature.

Nokia hasn’t announced when its first device will ship, some reports suggest at the end of 2011 but a more likely timeframe looks to be in the first quarter of 2012, a period when the company is expected to introduce a new range of Windows Phone powered devices. Microsoft has said we can expect an announcement in the Summer from both companies, we will of course bring you the news as it happens.
