Nokia files patent lawsuit against Apple in UK, Germany and Holland

Nokia has just released a press release announcing that it has filed claims in the UK, Germany and Holland, alleging that Apple has infringed on Nokia products sold in those respective countries in regards to technologies used it the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

Nokia already has 24 patent issues with Apple which have been filed at the US International Trade Commission and the Delaware and Wisconson Federal court – the Cupertino-based will now have another 13 to contend with.

Paul Melin, Vice President, Intellectual Property at Nokia states:

“The Nokia inventions protected by these patents include several which enable compelling user experiences. For example, using a wiping gesture on a touch screen to navigate content, or enabling access to constantly changing services with an on-device app store, both filed more than ten years before the launch of the iPhone.”

Filing in the UK, Nokia will contest four of its patents related to touch user interfaces, on-device app stores, signal noise suppression and modular structures.

In Dusseldorf, Germany, Nokia has seven patents related to touch user interface, antenna structures, messaging functionality and chipsets.
