Super-thin Sony Ericsson X12 “Anzu” handset materialises

It appears Sony Ericsson has a new flagship Android smartphone in the works going by the codename “Anzu”, or as Eldar Murtazin puts it, the X12.

The new smartphone looks to be the successor to the Xperia X10 but may ship under the Bravia brand, a brand most commonly associated with Sony’s range of high-quality flatscreen TV models. Judging by leaked shots of the device, the X12 will be very thin, shipping with a 4.3-inch display, 1080p video capture, a front facing camera and a built-in HDMI port.

The leaked prototype runs Android 2.1 but rumours have the device shipping with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) in the first quarter of 2011.
Expect more details to be released before the holiday period, the handset is rumoured to be in testing alongside the PlayStation Phone which may also be officially announced within the same time period.
