Live Sky TV On Its Way To Selected Handsets

nokia-ovi-store-and-the-chinese-alphabet-01BSkyB and Nokia have signed a deal that will see live Sky Sports and Sky News content delivered to selected handsets.

The free service  is currently available on the Nokia Ovi Store allows users to watch Barclays Premier League goals and match highlights, set their Sky+ devices to remotely record and access the breaking Sky Sports and News headlines.

Currently the service only supports four handsets: Nokia N97, Nokia N97 mini, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, and Nokia 5530, with developments being made to ensure the service is accessible on the Nokia 5230 and X6 models. A version of the application with non-mobile TV features will also be released on 10 further handsets.

Rupert Englander, Nokia’s head of Services Marketing UK said:

“We are always looking for new and innovative ways to help make life easier for our consumers. Modern lifestyles have driven demand for great mobile content and services on-the-go and it’s great to know that this app will make a real difference to Nokia users. The partnership with Sky is just one of many that will bring everyday products and services to the pockets of our customers- all accessible quickly and easily through the Ovi Store.”

The release of Sky Sports/News application on the Ovi Store signals BSKyB’s intention to deliver it’s content to a range of different mobile devices and users. Sky released a live mobile TV iPhone app in November of last year and also offer dedicated Football and Cricket apps.
