Skype and Lync users can now place video calls to each other

When Microsoft bought Skype, a lot of Microsoft Lync users were probably wondering what was going to happen to their video and Web conferencing service of choice. I mean you can’t have two products that basically do the same thing right? Apparently you can and they can work together.

Today, Microsoft announced that users of Skype and Lync could place video calls to each other. Users of the services could already place voice calls and send text messages across the apps.

Microsoft also updated the Windows version of Skype to 7.0 with touch support and a new compact view feature.
