Kinect powered Half Life is gamer nirvana

Kinect powered Half Life is gamer nirvana

If you are a gamer, and there are a few of you out there, you might have heard of a little game called Half Life 2. However, you might not know that there is a wonderful derivative of the game that employs its graphics and physics engine called Garry’s Mod, or GMod, that has made the game into a virtual sandbox for testing.

Testing what? Anything. GMod is a place where people can use the very advanced physics and graphics capabilities of Half Life 2 to build virtual environments and situations to their heart’s content. Now, with the help of the Kinect and a few hackers, GMod is taking on a whole new level.

What if, instead of clicking your mouse to kick a box on-screen, you actually kick out, and Kinect records your motion and feeds it into the game? It’s a simple mental jump to make, but it makes the game infinitely more fun. We don’t want to spoil the video, so get watching:

Now, we have been covering Kinect hacks since the device first hit the market. Do you still enjoy reading about them? We only bring you the best of the best, but let us know in the comments if you find them to be tedious or still fascinating.
