Zune Pass Comes To UK

Zune Pass Comes To UK

Microsoft doesn’t seem to have any plans of launching Zune HD (their portable media player) outside the US but with the Windows Phone 7 launch nearing, Zune Pass is now showing up for users in UK.

Zune Pass is Microsoft’s subscription based service to purchase music. The music can be downloaded or streamed. The Zune media experience powers entertainment on the Windows Phone 7 and as such access to the Zune Marketplace for apps and music was expected to be made world wide.

LiveSide reported that users in UK could now see an option to purchase Zune Pass subscription. Though according to Neowin, access to some audio and streaming isn’t enabled as yet. Subscription is available for:

  • 1 month at £8.99
  • 3 month at £26.97
  • 14 days trial, free

The service hasn’t been officially announced and as such I believe someone toggled the switch prematurely for testing, I guess. Head over to https://live.zune.net/en-gb/account/buySubscription if you want to get the subscription.

Zune Pass is expected to be available internationally in time for Windows Phone 7 launch. I wouldn’t get my hopes up but Microsoft should introduce the Zune HD in markets outside of the US.
