Microsoft and Facebook Announce Social Online Wordprocessing.

A surprise launch at Facebook’s developer conference is A way to discover discover, create, and share Microsoft Office documents.

Built on Microsoft Office 2010, the Docs app enables Facebook users  to create and share Microsoft Office documents directly with their Facebook friends.

The launch is part of Microsoft’s new FUSE Labs “mission”, designed to explore “Future Social Experiences”.

My initial experiences with the app reveal a few bugs but overall a very interesting response to Google Docs that has just recently seen a significant revamp.

Documents can be created directly within the app, or can be uploaded from your computer. Documents can be viewed and edited directly within the web browser, a huge step from Microsoft’s primarily desktop experience. And of course you with Facebook integration you can quickly share the document with friends and contacts on Facebook.

The service is in beta and there will be a limit on how many people can create and upload documents initially.
