Amazon releases new tablets: Fire, Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10

Amazon has expanded its line of tablets to offer devices in new sizes and prices. Today, the company announced a new line of updated Fire tablets, as well as a new OS coming soon.

Available for pre-order today, Amazon now offers the Fire HD 8 and the Fire HD 10, which will begin shipping on September 30.

Both tablets are 7.7 mm thin, and offer a 16:10 aspect ratio display. There is a quad-core 1.5 GHz processor for more power, along with an microSD card slot that allows for up to 128GB storage.

Amazon tablets offer Amazon Prime video as well as books and access to Amazon Underground, the company’s gambit to get players of freemium games to play unlocked and truly free versions. It also includes the new Amazon On Deck, which will download recommended content overnight.
