Whether you love it or hate it, the media as we knew it 10 years ago isn’t dying. At least not on the whole. In fact, according to Steve Rubel, it’s actually thriving on the whole because of innovation and the adoption of new ideas to help the old and new worlds meet.
“In the early 1990s when I began my career in PR there were clip reports. These were physical books that contained press clips. It seems downright archaic now but that’s how I learned about the press – by cutting, pasting up and photocopying clippings. My fascination with the media never abated.”
It’s with this in mind that Rubel has put together volume 1 of an e-book that he calls The Clip Report. Rubel, an Executive Vice President for Edelman, the world’s largest PR company, certainly does his share of legwork in the industry. From what he sees, the “second screen” apps of TV, curation sites and old companies using new technologies are leading the way in the transition.
