Hot on the heels of its recent integration with Boxee, the film rental service is now set to launch on Playstation 3.
We don't shill.
Check out TNW's Hard Fork.
Just like Netflix on Sony’s console, movies are available in full 1080p HD with 5.1 surround sound. VUDU’s library features 4000 HD movies with new releases being available to rent the same day they’re available in the shops. Prices start at $2 for two nights’ rental.
How does it differ from Netflix? It’s all down to the pricing. Netflix charges a monthly fee starting from $7.99 whereas VUDU charges by the movie. This makes Netflix the better option those who gorge themselves on movies, while VUDU should better suit casual users. Of course, the two services’ movie libraries are a factor too, but that’s entirely down to your personal taste.
VUDU’s Playstation 3 app will be available to download from the Playstation Store from 23 November. Meanwhile, VUDU is rolling out a slick new interface which will be available soon to all users.
Besides Playstation 3 and Boxee, VUDU is also integrated into a number of TVs and Blu-ray players. While Netflix may be the current front runner in US online movies, don’t disregard the horse backed by a force as powerful as Walmart.
