Square’s new integrations will put it to use at more restaurants and shops

Square’s new integrations will put it to use at more restaurants and shops

Square is again branching out beyond its own ecosystem. New integrations with Vend and TouchBistro will let more vendors accept payments via Square.

Starting today, “select” Vend and TouchBistro customers will be able to take advantage of this partnership. A full rollout will take place in the coming weeks.

“Square is a perfect partner for us, with our shared focus on creating beautiful in-store customer experiences. It’s just a great match, and we’re excited to be working together to allow our large base of retailers to start using Square,” said Alex Fala, CEO of Vend.

Alex Barrotti, CEO and founder of TouchBistro, says “TouchBistro’s integration with Square is simply a great combination for food businesses, from cafes to full-service restaurants. We strive to partner with best-in-class technology companies to deliver a cohesive solution that meets the many faceted needs of our customers.”

It’s also a move beyond the food carts and coffee shops of the world, where Square still makes its home. With these two new integrations, Square is taking on platforms rather than retailers, which is probably the right move.

And the Vend alliance positions Square in retail. While Square has never eschewed retail establishments, Vend is a bit more formal, and should put Square in use at many more stores.

And if users have a more specific need, there’s always its API platform, Build with Square.
