Radiohead is erasing itself from the Web and that makes me feel 😞 Update: They’re back!

Thom Yorke and his band of happy-go-lucky forty somethings – also known as Radiohead – have been actively trying to scrub their digital footprint from the Web.

People on Reddit first noticed the disappearing act.

Indeed, a quick glance on the band’s Twitter profile reveals a big, white nothing’ness.

Adding more intrigue to the mystery is Thom Yorke’s profile – it appears to have a bug, or it’s something far more arty. Despite Yorke’s feed explaining Thom has never Tweeted, there are seven Tweets under his account. Annoyingly, there’s no way of finding out what those Tweets were.

But in a strange twist to the story, the band’s MySpace page (yeah, that) is still going strong. Which I’m just going to put down to the band’s social media managers not realizing that this was once a thing that people liked – and not the band’s new release strategy.

Despite MySpace being the last bastion of all things Radiohead, the mystery behind the disappearance seems to fit a pattern the band has used before. In the build up to one of the group’s previous releases, The King of Limbs, Thom Yorke was spotted in London handing out newspapers with the name of the new album days before its official release.

On Yorke’s side project, Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes, he released the whole thing via BitTorrent.

Further cementing the record rumors, a friend of mine received this in the mail.

Which in turn, has lead to speculation over how the band might distribute its new record this time.

So, it seems Radiohead isn’t disappearing after all. Which makes us feel like this on the inside.

But externally, we’re more.

Update: The band is back! They have returned with the below. Let the cryptic clues commence!
