From today you might start seeing various star emoji beside people’s usernames on Product Hunt. No, this doesn’t mean they have been selected to be verified as part of the Product Hunt elite – it simply means they are on an upvoting streak.
“This event was off the charts”

Yes, Product Hunt has started rewarding users for their activity on the platform, turning it into a bit of a game. To get started you just need to upvote at least one thing for three consecutive days and then you should see a star beside your username.
After that, the more you upvote, the more stars you can unlock. If you get to more than 25 upvotes, you’ll unlock a mystery emoji and probably start feeling pretty superior to other Product Hunt users.
So, unlike Twitter where you’re either going to have to be very popular or persuasive to get your blue tick of approval, you can actually enjoy getting a bit of recognition on Product Hunt.
