Withings’ new in-app algorithm for high blood pressure is almost as good as a real doctor

Withings’ new in-app algorithm for high blood pressure is almost as good as a real doctor

Instead of a new device, Withings is announcing a new algorithm to help you make sense of your blood pressure readings.

Aimed at people with high blood pressure, the Hy-Result algorithm “helps people interpret and assess personalized interventions that can aid in the better management of high blood pressure.”

It analyzes blood pressure data from in-home monitors (like Withings’ own hardware) to provide users with a personalized look at their cardiovascular health. It also takes into account your medical data, lifestyle and physical statistics.

The algorithm is also a premium feature in the Withings Health Mate app (a $4.99 in-app purchase) , so you won’t have to buy any special hardware. Hy-Result has also been validated in clinical trials, where it was found to deliver the same advice you’d get from a doctor 95.4 percent of the time.
