Nest to replace old Dropcams for free before they stop working in April

Nest to replace old Dropcams for free before they stop working in April

Gigaom reports today that Nest is offering a replacement program for anyone who purchased an original Dropcam or Dropcam Echo before they stop functioning in April.

The old cameras are set to stop functioning in April as Nest upgrades its IP-camera software, adding new features that the older cameras weren’t capable of.

The company said the upgrade program is because it’ll “no longer be able to give Original Dropcam and Dropcam Echo owners an experience that meets our standards.”

Affected users don’t need to do anything; Nest will get in touch to arrange their free Dropcam HD replacement.
