Grooveshark gets into events with Grooveshark Presents, a new crowdsourced concert initiative

Music streaming service Grooveshark today announced a live concert series called “Grooveshark Presents.” With the initiative, the company will tap its online community for suggestions as it plans the events.

The first such concert will take place on November 10 in Gainesville, Fla., with artists Autograf, Happy Accidents and Bells & Robes. Grooveshark CEO Sam Tarantino said in a statement that the company’s streaming data and ability to communicate directly with customers will help remove “the significant risks promoters take in booking talent.” Listeners will be able to recommend, nominate and foster live events for their preferred bands.

Grooveshark boasts 30 million monthly active users, even as it faces legal opposition from the music industry. After a US judge sided with record labels in a lawsuit late last month, the company pledged to appeal the ruling.
