World Startup Events is a guide to key networking and tech events across the globe

World Startup Events is a guide to key networking and tech events across the globe

The folks from behind the World Startup Wiki have released a neat new project that shines a light on startup events and networking opportunities worldwide. World Startup Events is a map that features three notable events for a range of cities worldwide —  favorite event of the local community; its unique event; and the recommended event for networking.

The data has pulled together using information from Startup Digest and Startup Genome. Visitors to World Startups Event are given links to both services within each country’s entry should they wish to learn more.

The map is simple to use. You simply click on a pin to see the three top picks for each category in the country. The team is working to expand the data with entries for more countries and cities.

“There are so many events happening all over the world, but which events truly represent each community? By combining our effort with Startup Digest and Startup Genome, we wanted to find the events that truly define what each community is all about: what is the favorite, unique and best networking event in a particular community,” said Andrius Neviera from World Startup Wiki.

Neviera told TNW that he hopes the resource will become an essential one for those with the bug to explore overseas, or entrepreneurs who perpetually travel.

We’ve seen plenty of quality resources emerge of late. In addition to World Startup Wiki, which is designed to be an “entrepreneurial guidebook for every corner of the world,” we recently wrote about Nomadlist.io, which ranks cities based on their suitability for ‘digital nomads’ and global startups.

These resources, mixed with the successes that some founders are seeing overseas, makes the idea of traveling abroad to start a business, or relocate an existing startup, all the more compelling.
