Music discovery service Exfm decides not to shut down after all

Here’s a happy ending for you. Exfm announced late last year that it would shut down today, but music discovery service  just sent out an email revealing that it plans to continue operating.

After notifying users about the closure, Exfm received an “outpouring of love and support.” As a result, it plans to keep going while it looks for potential partnerships. Oddly, the company has yet to update its website to indicate the change of plans.

Here’s the full text of the email:

Hey everyone, I’m happy to let you all know that we will NOT be shutting down Exfm today. The outpouring of love and support from you all has truly been amazing. Over the last month, many of you have written to tell us how much you love Exfm and asked if there was anything you could do to help keep the service alive. We’ve been working hard and talking to lots of people to find a way forward. While we continue to explore all our options around potential partnerships, we want to keep Exfm going. While we don’t have anything to announce today, we are optimistic that we can find a great home for Exfm.

Exfm launched several years ago as a browser extension for finding MP3 files. It went on to build mobile apps, a blog widget and an API.
