Waze sees 10,000 gas stations added by its users in 2 weeks

Back in June, community-powered road navigation app Waze rolled out a new feature to let users find the cheapest gas station around them, as well as get discounts when filling up.

The initial launch of the real-time fuel price feature was US-only, but starting from two weeks ago the Waze map editor has allowed users to add gas station locations to the map, a feature that’s available in all countries except US and Canada. So how’s the project coming along?

Well, with more than 1,300 gas stations added in the last 24 hours alone, there are now 10,000 gas stations added. You can chart its growth since launch here:

Waze is a community-driven application that learns from users’ driving times to provide routing and real-time traffic updates. Back in early January, we reported that Waze had hit the 10m user milestone, before passing 2om users last month.

It seems Italy has been going gaga for this latest feature, with 1,449 gas stations added across the country by its users. This is followed by Germany (503), Sweden (465), France (429) and the UK (401).
