YouTube now lets you double-tap on videos to skip ahead or go back 10 seconds

YouTube is making it easier to for mobile users to quickly browse through videos.

The Google-owned video hub has rolled out a new feature that lets you double-tap on the left or right side of your screen to fast forward or backward any video by 10 seconds. The functionality works only in full-screen mode and is available in the latest reiteration of YouTube for both iOS and Android.

While we’re not entirely sure when exactly the feature was released, chances are it came as part of latest update of the app, which Google dropped earlier this week on Wednesday.

While numerous Redditors report seeing the feature on both iOS and Android, it appears the shortcut buttons are still not available to all users – or on all devices, for that matter.

While the feature will certainly come in handy to users with compulsive fast-forward tendencies, others seem to find the newly added buttons rather annoying, reporting they slow down the interface and make it difficult to switch between going into and out of full-screen mode.
