Pharrell pops up in Google Maps and Hangouts to mark International Day of Happiness

Pharrell pops up in Google Maps and Hangouts to mark International Day of Happiness

If you thought you’d heard Pharrell’s ‘Happy’ song for the last time, you were wrong. Today is the International Day of Happiness, so there’s a pretty good chance you’d have heard it anyway, even if the singer hadn’t teamed up with Google and the United Nations Foundation to create a ‘global happy party.’

There you can upload a short video of yourself bopping about to the tune to join in and check out everyone else’s submissions. There’s also a world map, so you can check out submissions from specific countries.

If you’re looking for something a little more low-key, maybe the Google Maps Easter egg of a Pharrell Street View pin is more your speed? He’s hiding away in the bottom-right hand corner; he’s pretty small, but look closely and he’s there!

However, perhaps our favorite International Day of Happiness Google Easter egg so far is the dancing Pharrell if you type the phrase ‘International Day of Happiness’ in Google Hangouts. It didn’t seem to work in our version of Chrome on Windows 7, but worked just fine on Windows 10, Mac, iOS and Android. (Thanks to Link Humans for spotting this one!)
