Google Compute Engine reaches General Availability, adds new features and support

Google this evening announced that its Google Compute Engine is now Generally Available, meaning it is open to all developers, while the virtual machine technology got a number of updates to boost developers that use it to run apps and services.

Google is trimming the cost of its most popular standard Compute Engine instances by 10 percent worldwide, while it has expanded operating system support to cater for any out-of-the-box Linux distribution, kernel or software.

That’s not all. There are now 16-core instances — for those who require additional power and memory — transparent maintenance, and faster and cheaper Persistent Disks. Further details can be found in this video and the link below it:
